The way we communicate with one another is changing rapidly from traditional telephonic contact to non-verbal communication through text messages and chat platforms. In an effort to stay connected, RMCP has taken the initiative to bring crisis services to those who prefer non-verbal communication through modalities such as text and chat services.

Through Text and Chat, you will be connected with a Crisis Counselor who is trained to provide immediate support and intervention. If Chat or Text services are not available or wait times are long, you can reach a Crisis Counselor, 24/7, at 844-493-8255

Who Uses these Services?

Chat and Text are perfect for those individuals that would prefer different ways to communicate with others, or for those who find direct verbal communication challenging.

Text & Chat services are for anyone who may be depressed, going through a hard time, or just needs to talk, including people who are thinking about suicide. Any life issues may be discussed electronically with Crisis Counselors who are here to listen and support you through whatever difficult times you may be facing.

Reaching the Community in Need

Through electronic communication, we can reach individuals who might not otherwise reach out when in crisis:

Teenagers who are in crisis and need to connect with someone in their most challenging moments.
Rural communities with low connectivity or reliable phone service.
Populations that prefer non-direct verbal communication.

We are there when people need it no matter how they prefer to communicate.

Are Messages Confidential?

The confidentiality and security of chat and text messages is ensured through our software providers, which uses the same encryption and data protection standards required by major financial institutions to transact business with each other. All of your communications are securely encrypted from your computer to ours. Please see the Terms and Conditions for further information regarding confidentiality.

Who Am I Messaging With?

Crisis Line specialists are Bachelors and Masters level Crisis Counselors at Rocky Mountain Crisis Partners. They are here to provide emotional online support, crisis intervention and suicide assessments. The goal is to help you reduce stress and feel empowered to make healthy decisions. Crisis Counselors will ask questions about your situation, your safety, your thoughts and emotions to work with you to develop effective plans for next steps. If a Crisis Line specialist feels you are in danger, he/she will discuss with you accessing emergency services and taking next steps to make sure you are safe. Our team will collaborate with you to create safety plans as needed.
